Photoshop crashes when saving document

since yesterday everytime I create a new document in Photoshop CS (I am using Tiger 10.4.3) Photoshop crashes. (this did happen once before, but a simple reboot solved the problem, but not now) I have tried every rememdy I can think of:

trashing preferences
repairing fonts
reinstalling Photoshop
verifying/repairing permissions
creating a new user (w/ and w/o administrator prvlgs.)
defraging drive
safe boot
archive/reinstall of OS

and still the problem exists. Any help on this would be so appreciated, thanks!
