Importing From Multiple CDs At Once??
Problem is these 3000 CDs seem to be mostly obscure Jazz CDs that are not in any other naming database except Gracenote.
So ripping with iTunes is really my only option here. And iTunes is a great CD ripping program. I mean, it doesn't RIP first, then encode later; it encodes while it rips, which slows things down. But otherwise its a good ripper. The deal-breaker is that for some reason that is beyond me, iTunes won't rip from multiple CD drives at once. I have 7 USB CD ROM drives, 2 Internal IDE CD ROM drives, and 4 InterExTernal ( 🙂 ) CD ROM drives, so 13 total CD ROM drives. If I put 13 CDs in, iTunes will rip them one at a time, and eject them one at a time. It will take me a year to rip them one at a time.
iTunes USED to be able to rip multiple CDs at once. The catch is that it didn't do it automatically when you inserted the CD. You'd have to click the Import button. But you could do that to as many as you wanted. And they'd all go at once.
So what I'm really hoping for here, is a way to modify my iTunes, so it will rip all inserted CDs at once. I'm hoping I can just modify some .plist file somewhere? Otherwise I'm looking at over a year of ripping instead of less than a month.
