frozen iPhone, won't reset or turn off

At 7:49 this evening, while navigating through screens in my address book, my iPhone totally froze. Three hours later, it's still on the same screen. I've tried holding down the power and home buttons together and nothing happens. I've plugged the iPhone into the wall charger and nothing happened. It's currently connected into the computer and when I did that, iTunes did recognize I had plugged it in, but it's been spinning on the "syncing iPhone" screen for 15 mins or so. It's been frozen for 3 hours, please help!

TIA...

I'm having a somewhat similar problem... I'm on a trip and forgot my charger, so I borrowed my friends iPod wall charger that had a firewire cord. I assumed that would be fine, but apparently I was wrong--the screen went black and then started flashing and colors ran up and down the screen. I quickly unplugged it, but after a second it turned back on. Then I unplugged the firewire from the wall charger and, assuming that the problem had something to do with the voltage from the wall (I don't know what I was thinking) plugged the firewire into my computer to continue charging. The screen showed that it was charging, so I went to sleep. When I woke up, the phone would not turn on, even if it was plugged in...

please help!!!

my phone would not wake up from sleep earlier. after 3 hours, i was able to plug into a charger and it turned on but it was frozen on the menu with the "wait" icon frozen in the middle also. it's been like this for 2 hours. i tried calling it from another mobile and from what i could hear, it was ringing but the iphone wasn't actually ringing.

argh. anyone solve this thing?
