Iphone worked great taking pictures, but has just started taking pictures, but when you go to the camera roll the pictures are blank. Anyone having this problem.
I just started getting the problem today. Tha last thing I did was off load the entire album with the Image Capture program, which cleaned the phone of pictures. Now it's not taking new ones.
so strange. i started having this problem recently, too. coincidence?
i'm waiting 'till the 3G's come out to take it to the Genius Bar in hopes they replace it with a shiney new 3G...from the sound of things, this problem is unfixable!!
To address the camera/photo library problem, I want to follow 5 step approach you suggest, my question is after I RESTORE, I will be deleting all of my contact information and music from my phone. Will I be able to easily get that information back onto my iPhone the next time I sync?
OK, I feel this is a file corruption of some sort. I have this problem with my iPhone. Took it to Apple and they replaced it. It worked like a charm in the store. Synced my phone at home...Boom. No photo taking ability. Tried the fix method described here and it worked until my next sync. There is a file of some sort that is part of my syncing that is corrupting the cameras ability to store.
Here is a twist. I just got the new iTunes 7.7, and a new iPhone 3G. I synced it up with all my music etc and guess what? I can't friggin take pictures. Want to know the weird thing? My old Edge iPhone that no longer has service is now taking photos. I have no idea what is going on here.
I have missed three vacations so far where I could not take photos with my iPhone. I would love to use the geo tagging of photos with my new 3G iPhone. Too bad I cant take photos.
Does Apple monitor these threads? What is the fix Steve?
very frustrating experience not to be able to save photos, finally solved, thank you all for your postings. I used the five step solution listed at the beginning of this topic but I could not get it to work UNTIL I changed the following sync preference under the "Photos" tab of the iPhone sync menu in iTunes (by the way, before this change, nothing was selected under "Photos" to sync)I selected "sync photos from iPhoto"/selected photos/last roll. Finally this worked.
sorry to hear it. the fix i posted worked, but the first pic i take is always corrupted and disappears. so i always have to take 2 pics of any subject i choose when reopening the camera...
I was unable to take any photos with my old iPhone. Took it in, and they gave me a new first generation iPhone. Now I can take photos, but the first one is always blank.
I suspect it's something in our backup file... some sort of corruption.
Something interesting is that any App that uses the photo software - even an App where you draw/doodle a picture and save it - won't save the first picture.
called Apple about this and they told me to do a manual restore, but then to opt to choose the "set up as new iPhone" option instead of loading from an iPhone backup. This actually worked for me (so far). No more corrupt file and pictures seem to be working just fine.
BE WARNED:
You'll lose all your Safari links on the springboard. You'll also lose all ringtone assignments (not ringtones). And all basic settings will return to their defaults. So in that respect it will be a pain to get the iPhone to look and act like it used to, but for me, it was worth the trouble since that pesky file was just kinda driving me crazy and causing things to crash.
Oh, and if you have the Aurora Feint app like me (great free game if you haven't played it) all saved progress will be lost! Bugger all!
1. Restore your phone.
2. When you are prompted to restore from your backup, set up as new phone.
3. You will lose your phone favorites, text messages, etc. but will be able to sync your data from contacts, your music from iTunes, apps, etc. once you set up your "new" phone.
**The photo bug is somehow embedded in the personal data backup. Even when they gave me a brand new phone from the Apple store, I still brought the bug over when I restored with my old data.
