what is syncserver?

I don't use isync, but when I look at my console log, it has a lot of activity being initiated and done by syncserver. What is this? I don't have a wireless network, or other device that should be connecting to my computer, not do I have sharing enabled, or remote access. What is syncserver used for? Because whatever it is, it is having a good time on my computer. In my console log, this syncserver has deleted, changed, and created files.

macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

The syncserver is the .Mac syncing process. It is also used for syncing to other devices (iPods, palm pilots, etc -- though the specifics for a given device might have changed, ie. iPods syncing through iTunes). Check the Activity Monitor to see how much CPU time the process has used. If there're a lot of time tallied up then it would be something to look into, but just because something makes some log entries doesnt mean it's taking up a lot of CPU time.
