How does your Mighty Mouse "squeaks"?

Same here. It is getting on my nerves. I switched back to the original mouse but missed the scroll feature. It definitely should not make sounds other than the click.

It sounds like it needs oil or something. I only had mine for a couple days.

It is really driving me crazy. I have to play some music or something so I can't hear it.

I've found that it squeaks more when I'm squeezing it. As long as I'm lightly touching it, it's quiet.

No it sounds like the casing is rubbing against something but you know it might be just that its new. Maybe the more you use it -- it may go away. I am noticing it less now since I have been using it heavily for the first time today. It was really bothering me before but not at this time. I never had to break in a mouse before but maybe that's what it needs.

Definitely some sort of rubby scrubby going on. As long as I handle my mouse gingerly, it's not there.

Although, I have to admit that initially I had thought it might be intentional as well. Sure sounds a lot more "squeakish" than I'd expect 🙂

FWIW, my "Mighty Mouse" does not "squeak". The clicks just sound like normal clicks. The scroll ball makes a very subtle "ratchet" sound that seems completely appropriate for it's function.

My MM started squeaking -- one of every five or ten clicks, it seems -- just yesterday. It is, unfortunately, very, VERY annoying. Ugh.

This is not the pleasant, quiet tick-tick-tick of the scroll-ball, btw. It's like the sound of a creaky spring.

It sounds like the squeak is not supposed to be there (some have it some don't)? Has anyone else taken their squeaky mouse back and exchanged it? I am fed up with it and ready to take it back.

took mine into the apple store in pasadena calif. exchanged, no problem.

the problem appears that the side button on the right is somehow set into the casing too far (barely noticeable)...causing the squeak when you push down. i have 2 of 'em, the other one has never had the problem. the store guy couldnt duplicate it...i did for him. it appears that if you rest your hand on it a certain way, the effects are more pronounced. (my hand on it did it, the salesman's didn't). interesting.

I am experiencing the same problem as mentioned here. Depending on when and how I click, I hear a horrible squeaky click from the mouse, which sounds very bad. Sounds like it's poorly constructed. I'll be returning mine this weekend.

I had a squeak on my original purchase. Called in an got a replacement. The replacement squeaked worse than the original. Am sending back in for a refund. It's too bad, because I liked the mouse, but I can't live with the squeak!

Same squeaking noise here, getting to be very annoying. I expected better QC for an Apple $49 mouse.

Might as well add my voice. I purchased the Mighty Mouse last night. Played with it a bit at home. Now at work this morning the "squeak" is really getting to me. The joke about my new squeaking mouse is not funny anymore to my cubicle neighbors. Noticing it more on the left than right.

That said, I am really enjoying the features. It is good to read that others have had no hassle returning. Coincidently, my purchase was also in Pasadena, CA, like a previous poster.

Just as a follow-up, I should note that I put aside the MM for a couple of days (intending to return it to the Apple Store and get a replacement). Before I did so, I decided to try it one more time -- and lo and behold, the squeak is gone. For now anyway.

Very strange -- my usage patterns don't seem to be any different. I'm waiting to see if it returns, or if it was a strange quirk that disappeared after the mouse is worn in.
