LCD Projector

Use a projector frequently for presentations and am new to the Mac. Used to be able to toggle the projector and computer displays on and off with the F7 key. Anything like that on the MacBook Pro?

Depends on the model of MBP. Up until the machines released last month, F7 did the same thing on the MBP. With the new update, you'll need to go to system preferences -> displays to configure the external monitor. The external monitor will be automatically recognized when you plug it in, and if you haven't used a projector before, will default to mirror mode where the computer and external projector have the same resolution and display the same image.

In the Displays Pref pane you can have a displays icon placed in the menu bar to make things more convenient in the future. I personally prefer to turn off mirroring so my MBP and the projector are driven as separate displays with separate resolutions. When using Apples Keynote presentation software you can control which display receives the presentation, and then use the other in the MBP to display the next slide, a clock, speaker's notes, etc.
