VM and page faults

After installing MenuMeters to keep an eye on memory and CPU usage I noticed that it also reported paging. After an uptime of 6 hrs I have a reading of almost 3 million page faults...

Though I've used various Macs during the past ten years, I am fairly new to Mac OS X and memory managment in particular. I'm a bit worried by the amount of page faults. Should I be? What could be the cause and how do I find it, and more important how could I fix it...?

FWIW:I have my mini running 24/7, without sleeping. My user account is a standard, not admin.

PAGE FAULT CITY!!!! My new dual processor G5 has been up, BUT sleeping most of the time for at least 4 days now. My page fault count is currently in excess of 36 million!!!! I didn't add any ram to the system, so it has the stock 512 megs. After reading about this online, I guess i'm getting these faults b/c of a lack of ram?!?! is 512 really not enough?!

I wish I could administrate VM and adjust it like I used to be able to in os 9/8/7
