Driver Issues for HP PSC 1300 Series

Hi Everyone. Just got my mac and loving it, but I'm having some issues with my printer.

I am able to directly plug the printer into my macbook and it prints just fine, meaning the drivers must be there.

Now, when I try to print to the same printer over the network when that printer is attached to a windows machine, I am asked to select the drivers for the printer, but the drivers for the HP PSC 1300 Series are not listed. Anyone know what might be the cause of this problem?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

I am having the same problem. Finally after like 10 hours or reading and fooling around, i was able to send something to print to my windows machine, albeit with a driver for a psc 900 or something. of course it did not print, but did show up in the print queue on my vista machine, a major breakthrough. now i just need the correct driver on the mac side of things. this is pretty frustrating.

I'm sorry this is frustrating - and I wish Apple would fix it. There are two kinds of driver on OS X - Carbon and CUPS. To use the CUPS standard network printing protocols included in OS X, you must use a CUPS driver. But HP doesn't provide CUPS drivers for its non-postscript printers. So we must use either Gutenprint or hpijs drivers from:

I had the same problem when I got my new iMac and my HP psc 1300. It would not work with the drivers it came with... After calling HP they suggested I download another driver that was Mac compatible and close in series number to the psc 1300. After I did that, everything worked... And than just a few days ago I got a "Time Capsule" and it took forever to get it to work... But it did... Go get another driver close to the Series psc 1300 and try it!

I don't understand what's going on. I used to be able to print using my HP PSC 1350 and my airport express. In the last few months it's stopped working and I've tried to reinstall the drivers. The printer works fine if it's attached to my mac directly but if it's attached to my Time Capsule or my Airport Express it can not find the drivers that I know are there. I have installed the latest driver that Steven Hale posted, but this does not help.
I have contacted HP and they have told me that the 1350 is not supported for wireless printing. This is silly because I have done this for a couple years!
Why can't the bonjour add printer see my drivers?? I know they are installed on my computer!!!
