Sherlock's magnifying glass is gone

Sherlock's magnifying glass is gone

Good old Sherlock works surprisingly well on two of my Macs. But on old G4 (400 MHz) it exhibits a bizzare behavior. For a start, the magnifying glass next to the Dictionary's word definition is gone... Some of the channels icons do not show up... In Flights, the Show channel preferences in the right lower corner is missing...
Reinstalling Sherlock using Pacifist has not change the situation. Help/ideas will surely be appreciated.

Sherlock in a fancy Web browser. Treat it as one and empty it's cached files.
user/Library/caches/Sherlock/WebFoundation.
Open the folder (you'll see a bunch of folders using numbers as names) and Command-A (select all). Command-delete (this will move them to the Trash).
Restart (relaunch) Sherlock and try the Sites again.
You may have to repeat this cache clearing any time you get errors with Sherlock.

Thanks for the fast 'double' reply. Unfortunately, the problem has nothing to do with trashing the content of WebFoundation. I saw this recommendation in one of your previous posts, and I actually tried it (I should have mentioned it) before initiating this tread.

BTW, what is the (crucial?) role of the .nib files sitting in the ~/Library/Caches/Sherlock/Channel Nibs folder?

Have you used "Get Info" to verify that the Sherlock versions are identical on the working machines and the non-working ones?

In order to get this fix to stick, you should "get info" on the Web Foundation folder, and then lock it, which will prevent it from caching. It might slow Sherlock up a little bit, but it will stop all the weird behavior.

I had already emptied the cache and it worked for a while. Locking the Web Foundation folder seems to have fixed it.

Another problem I have is the phone book shows temporarily unavailable. It has been like that for weeks. Anyone else having this problem?

Unfortunately, although the fix advocated does some good job, it does NOT bring back the lost magnifying glass in the Dictionary. As far as I can tell, THIS IS NOT A CACHE ISSUE.
