Printer: can't create PDFDocumentRef for `/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/'

Just moved from Tiger to leopard 10.5.2
Using an Hp deskjet 3650 which worked last week in Tiger. Now, no matter what I try to print, I get errors like the following:
can't create PDFDocumentRef for `/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/480cbc6235144'

To the best of my knowledge, I installed every possible printer driver from the DVD

17" Macbook Pro 2.16gB Intel Core-Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.2), Airport-Extreme

Greetings,

I'd try deleting the printer, download the new 3650 drivers for OS X 10.5.0 from HP, and re-create the printer. My 3650 works fine for me.

OhhhhKayyy ... I went to http://tinyurl.com/3r8d85
a ww1.hp.com address ...
installed /OSXHPInkjetInstaller.dmg

tried same print and get same failure:

first I get this:
/usr/libexec/cups/filter/pstopdffilter failed
then the topic error named

OK .. hold on ... this seems to be a pdf printing problem ... am printing a text file with no problems

Ummm ... anyone with ideas where to look for the underlying Print-PDF problem?
