Advent 9617 laptop error 2131 when burning audio CD in itunes

I purchased my advent 9617 notebook 2 weeks ago and am unable to burn audio discs as I keep getting an error code, "the attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred 2131". I've been reading about this problem with dell notebooks and have tried to install their patch but its not compatable with my drive. I called my support number and was taken through a few steps to rectify it to no avail. When I told him everything else worked fine burning he said they would not support me as it is a software problem with itunes.

Has anyone else had the same probs with an Advent machine? Also can anyone help with a patch please.

I tried the patch because I thought if the drive was the same as the ones in dell that it would work, but unfortunately it didn't lol. I've tried 3 different brands of cd-r, no luck. I can burn a cd-rw which is a bonus I suppose.

I called my support helpline again, and was given the story that the problem is the itunes software and they are not prepared to help. They even said that the patch that dell released doesn't fix the problem even though I gave him the address to the forum saying that it did. Someone must be responsible for the problem, meantime I'm stuck in the middle, and it seems it is the tsst corp L632H CDDVD drive that is giving problems.
