Running an Intel Mac Pro in a Windows network. The printer is not postscript enabled and uses PCL6. Currently I have to print to that printer ( a Ricoh Aficio 3228C) by going through VMware Fusion and printing from the Windows portion. This is a pain. Is there a way that I can print to this printer straight from apps like Illustrator and Photoshop without using VMware? Seems like there would be a PS to PCL converter??

Well that didn't work. I get this error message:
"/usr/libexec/cups/backend/smb failed"
That is the communications portion of the printing system. That is a very common problem in Leopard. You can easily find many, many posts in this forum on how others have tried to deal with this.
The pxlmono drivers are the drivers to use and there is no evidence at from what you indiate that they are not functioning properly. We just need to figure out how to get the print job to the printer.
Browse through the various drivers to find one that works with your printer. Then follow the installation instructions. Because Mac OS X uses CUPS there is almost certainly a driver that will work.
