Black finder windows

Question

Black finder windows

This has happened once or twice now. All finder window backgrounds and desktop icons' text turn black on this machine.

Force quitting the Finder fixes the issue but should I be worried about a deeper problem?

Mac Pro 8 Core , G5, Powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

View Menu --> Show View Options --> Background

haha.

It's definitely not that. It's a fault of some kind. The sidebar and search area at the top of the window backs out (see image) and the text of the icons on the desktop go black.

Did you try trashing the Finder preferences? com.apple.finder.plist

I have done that now. I'm not sure if it has fixed the issue as it is and intermittent rather than a constant problem. Thanks for your help.
