Batt pack explodes

The internal cells in the batt pack of my MacPro expanded to the point the case came apart and exposed the batt cells inside. Has anyone else had the same problem>

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Yes, it's a known issue. *_Remove the battery IMMEDIATELY_*, if you haven't already, to prevent damage to the rest of your MBP. Handle with care, as there are toxic chemicals inside those cells.

Contact AppleCare or visit an Apple Store for a replacement. Here's the link to Apple's acknowledgment of the issue (including the 2 year battery warranty extension). Note the statement +"Battery pack is visibly deformed"+, which applies to you.

Hope this helps...
