How do I upload photos from camera to computer

Hi, I have a Macbook with MAC OS X 10.5.2 software, a Sanyo/Sprint phone, and a data cable. I want to transfer photos from my phone onto my computer. I managed to plug the data cable into the phone, and into the USB port on the computer, but I don't know what to do next. There isn't an option on my phone camera to upload or export, so can I do this through the computer somehow? I'm sorta' desperate, it's for an important project.

This will depend on the phone. If the device mounts as a readable disk, such as a flash drive, then perhaps the images will be on there somewhere. However, most likely there's a solution from the phone manufacturer, such as a software package that will allow you to extract images and other information off the phone. What is the make/model of phone you're using?

Welcome to the Apple boards:
Don't you need some special Sanyo software? Check their website.
What does the Sanyo manual say about tranferring data between the phone and a Mac?

If you can't tell, you are dealing with a person new to technology (but loving it!!). Anyway, the phone is a Sanyo flip phone model # SCP-3100. I get my phone service through Sprint and when I called them, I am not kidding, they couldn't even understand what I was asking (I was trying to order the data cable). I could call them again if you think it might help but I am hoping I will meet a computer angel online because they weren't too helpful the first time around.

Well, here you'll meet computer geeks, not angels...

The manual for your phone says the USB cable is for using your phone as a modem for a computer. As such, I doubt you'll be able to use it to download the pictures off your phone. There is a feature for the phone that allows you to upload your pictures to the sprint picturemail service. Perhaps if you uploaded your photos there you could access them through a web browser. The service's site is:
