Can I buy an iPod classic in the USA and use it in Germany

Dear friends and apple users,

I am currently using a MacBook bought in Germany with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and I would like to buy an iPod in the United States as I am staying here for a long time. Can I also use this iPod classic in Germany without any restrictions? I have heard that there is some kind of feature from Apple that makes it possible not to be able to use the iPod outside the USA/with a non-american Apple device.

Thank you for answering in advance,
my name

Hi,

No problem here. In my case, I bought some iPods in the US and I've been using it in Portugal.

Hope this helps!

In New Zealand, I'm currently using a 160 GB Classic bought in the US.

If you also buy the optional USB ipod mains charger in the US, it will come with the plug that fits US wall sockets. I got around that by buying the iPod travel adapter kit (which included the New Zealand plug).

I'm not sure whether or not USB ipod mains chargers bought in Germany come with the German plug.

I really want to get an iphone, but I'm in the Army and I'm getting assigned to Germany in a few months. I plan for Germany to be my home for a few years. When I looked at Apple stores in Europe I saw they had them in Italy and UK, but not in Germany. My main issue is if AT&T is the service provider in GE. Or do they offer more options over in Europe? Does anyone have any knowledge or experience?
