Mac to Yamaha 01x mLan connection failing

I keep losing the ability to connect my 01x to the Mac via mLan (Firewire).

After successfully installing and setting up the mLan software (mLan tools 1.1.2), I connected it and disconnected my 01x and Mac 4 times yesterday, including shutting down the computer and re-booting. No problems, the control surface seems to work very well with Logic, MIDI and audio seem flawless.

It seems that it doesn't like to go past midnight or something. Now (next day) the mLan network does not show up in Apple's audio/midi application and I can't find any way to re-connect it without re-installing the software from scratch. I have gone through this scenario 4 days running now. It runs great for about a day them refuses to re-connect. It has never crashed or hung while running.

Yamaha support here in Australia are trying really hard to help but they have drawn a blank so far. They are thinking along the lines of driver compatibility with the new 8 core machines. I suspect it might be something much simler that I am, or am not doing.

Any clues please?

Thanks Guru22. I have spent a bit of time going through the 01x-ray and mLan central forums. You're right, these are a great source of information. It seems though that I'm not the only one having trouble with the latest mLan drivers and Leopard. Actually, I've had a lot of trouble with Leopard compatibility, period. I would love to be running Tiger but the latest 8-core Macs won't do it - Nice one Apple!

Anyway, I'm sure there's an answer. I also have to say Yamaha here in Australia are working really hard to sort my problem out. They didn't care whether my 01x was in warranty or not (Its well past that). - Even more reason to love the 01x.

I've just done a hard reset on my 01x and I'll re-install the drivers too, (for the 5th time). When I find out what's going on I'll post the answer for any others who might come across this situation.

Ha, that's a timely answer. I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz here to try it on. I might just assume it's the OS causing the problem after reading your post, and not the processor/Leopard/mLan Driver combination.

I have just noticed there's a missing preference file: /User/$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.yamaha.autoconnector.plist

I also noticed that the preference file for the graphic patch bay is still present: /User/$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.yamaha.mLAN.GraphicPatchbay.plist

Because of this I have re-installed the drivers and only connected via the graphic patch bay. It has stayed working for 4 connections over 8 hours so far (a record). You might want to try that. It's more of a pain to connect each time but it could solve the problem. Keep me posted and I'll do the same.

I'll pass my findings on to Yamaha who in turn will hassle Apple I'm sure.
