Multiplex Error

I can't get rid of the theme. I just want to have my DVD run on autoplay and loop. I follow all instructions but nothing works. When I open the DVD 08 program and go to the map page to drag my movie on to the autoplay box the theme is under it with a yellow triangle in the lower left hand corner. It states that the menu contains no buttons. It doesn't need buttons!!!! I just want it to autoplay and loop. When I set it to burn it goes through the process and at the end it states Multiplex Error. What is going on? I have done this before without any problem. I would really appreciate advice, I am going nuts. I have updated, repaired permissions, etc. Help!

Hi Mimi

a. free space on internal (start-up) hard disk more than 25Gb ? OK

b. Delete iDVD pref file

iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named: com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.

c. Start a new iDVD project

d. Select a very simple menu eg bruched metal (has to be something)

e. go to map page and drop Your movie in the upper left most box

f. set loop

g. make a DiskImage (File and down)

h. Try it and see if it plays OK

I'm having the same error as soon as iDVD (08) finishes Multiplexing.
I assembled the movie in iMovie HD (06) and then tried sending directly to iDVD (Export) and also tried opening iDVD and dropping the movie on it.
Everything goes fine until iDVD finishes multiplexing.
Another thing, when I drop the movie in iDVD it says that the movie is too large and that I should shorten it, so, I inserted a DL blank DVD and click Burn, at this point, another window opens saying that I've inserted a DL DVD but that this movie fits on a single layer DVD.

Any help is welcome.

Thanks

Pedro

I'm not sure what corrected the problem, but I thank you for your suggestions. I solved the "menu contains no buttons," "there were errors during the project validation" and ultimately, "multiplex error" warnings by dropping my movie directly on to the theme in map view. The yellow exclamation warning disappeared and it created another movie box under it. I then dropped another copy of the movie into the autoplay box and went to "advanced" and selected "loop". After 8 hours of troubleshooting the answer came accidently. This is a work-around. iDVD needs to address this problem. I'm sure that I am not the only one that this has happened to.

Anyway, thanks again.MacMimi

I've been trying to resolve this all day. No warnings. No anything. Just a freakin' error. I'm on a quad core Mac Pro with 4gb of ram and 300+ gb of free space. It's madding and extremely disappointing. I have 14 people coming over tomorrow night and it's still not in DVD form. I even "Shared" it to Quicktime in a .mov file, a 6gb file, and for some stupid reason, it won't sync to my Apple TV which has 24gb og free space. The permissions have been set to Read & Write and the file is not locked. This is the kind of stuff, coming from a loyal Apple user and buyer, that makes me hate Apple. I've spent hours and hours working on this DVD and finally, when I'm ready to showcase it, I'm up a creek.

I transferred just the iMovie file to my wife's iMac and it won't open, gives me the "locked, blah blah" error which it's not and there's plenty of space. Why won't it open on her iMac?

This is outrageous and sloppy. Majorly miffed right now.
