Overhead display

I have MacBook Pro. Leopard and Vista.
In Vista, I can't find the combination of keys to switch to the overhead display.
It was Function + F5 but that doesn't work on with my MacBook Pro. I am desperate for the solution.
Thank you,
Ron

Ron,

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

We’re going to need a bit more information to help you.

What overhead display? Do you mean a video projector?

Switch to it from what? If you have it connected correctly, it should project the image. You may need to lower the resolution of your Mac to get it to display, but other than that I’m unclear what your are trying to do.

I had to overcome this using XP, so I assume Vista may be similar. Go to Control Panels and select display. When you're connected to the projector, you'll have four options illustrated in a graphical representation. Select the one that represents the external mirroring set up. And click OK. Once you've done this, your system will automatically detect so you do not have to redo this again. At least this worked for me.

A digital projector is what I am using.
Some applications need to be viewed by the audience. Some applications are not displayed to the audience. Therefore, with XP, I would press FN + F5 to disconnect from the display while we worked with the applications that are not shown to the audience. When our work is done, we then pressed FN + F5 to show the audience the screen.
I hope this helps clarify what I am trying to do.
Thank you for your reply. I was out of town this weekend and only received your reply now.

As I understand it, you are running Vista on the Windows side using Bootcamp or Parallels, etc., and you are looking for a command in Vista to blank the video screen while you change to another application.

You more likely would find better help on a Vista discussion forum at Microsoft. The vast majority of users here use the Mac exclusively and wouldn’t have any idea about commands for Vista.

If you only want to hide the screen from the audience, can you press the Standby button on the projector to blank the screen?
