My computer won't stop talking

My computer has a male voice that talks constantly. How do I shut it off?

I don't know if it is related but I also when I turn my computer on in the apple menu it has shut down ,restart, and log out listed twice for each item.

Aslo every time I click on an application or a folder in the finder, a black outline box apears around the selected item.

As I am typing this message, the dumb voice talks out each letter.

What is wrong??

Thank you for your rerply.

Yes, it is turned off. It doesn't affect the voice. The double listing in the apple menue as well as the black outline boxes that apear in the finder showed up at the same time this voice problem.

A two year old was typing the keys on my computer in a fast random manner for several minutes before I was able to stop him. When I shut off the computer and restarted, that is when the problem started to occur.

I have a similar problem but none of the fixes have worked.

From the sign in screen, the boxes are highlighted and "Fred" reads the text.

Voice over is off. Text to speech is off.

I've double checked each user account and they all have these settings off.
I've repaired permissions and run the periodic tasks.
I've restarted the computer.
I've shutdown the computer.
I'm going to buy some earplugs.

Just prior to this happening, I was working with some Classic programs. Could one of them have caused this change?

Thanks!
