System decides to hang after extended use?
Recently when I've been using 10.4.2 for an extended period of time, programs will just decide to not open anymore. This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem under OS X. For example, I could be messing around in iTunes, then decide to open Safari, and the Safari Icon in my dock will just bounce repeatedly forever. If I try to open another program, whether its through the dock, or double-clicking, I will get the same result- the icon will just bounce and bounce in the dock, and never open. It seems as if the System just locks up. A restart cures these problems, but I have encountered this problem several times over the past few days. I decided to do a "System Optimizer X" system maintenance to see if that would cure it, but it appears that it doesn't. Can anyone shed any light on this strange phenomenon? It has me boggled. Thanks!
Edit Just discovered that if I have Safari open, it will stop loading web pages, then proceed to do the "application bounce thing" in the dock with other apps. Any applications I already have open will continue to work to an extent, but opening new programs is impossible without a restart.
