Connection keeps dropping

I've been having this problem for almost a month. I apparently posted my question in the wrong forum, so here I go again. This is my issue:

The Airport just drops the connection randomly and then scans and never reconnects. Sometimes it can't even find my network. The light stays green. I then have to re-start the Airport at to get the connection going again. This happens *at least* once a day.

I have the Extreme Router. Model 1143 Firmware vs.5.3.1

This is extremely frustrating, please help!

Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue, too. I have an Airport Extreme 7.3.1 and every now and then (about once a day now), it will just disappear and my Macbook wont be able to find it. Eventually it shows back up on my list of networks but if I try and join it, it asks me for my password and then says 'Connection timed out'.

In an attempt to fix it, if I try and use the Airport Utility, it won't find the Airport Express, either. Either I just have to wait an hour or so and magically it will show up and my computers will reconnect, or, I have to do a hard reset.

I have not found any real way to fix this nor any way to figure out what causes it, either.

I have been having the same problems with the connection dropping at least once every ten minutes. Many times when I try to reconnect, my wireless network can't be found (although my iPhone has no trouble seeing and connecting to it.) Then I am asked repeatedly for my password, but in four out of five attempts I get a timeout error. On the fifth try I get the 'invalid password' message, although my password is correct (and stored in my Keychain.) This was a problem under 10.4.x, but it is much worse now that I am running 10.5.2. There are postings on this subject all through these discussion boards (dating back to November 2007), but no one seems to have been able to provide a solution. Does anyone from Apple actually read and escalate these issues? Thanks for any wisdom someone else might have!

Same problems here. Intermittent dropped wireless LAN. Bloody annoying!

Airport Extreme 802.11n (7.3.1)
Airport Utility (5.3.2)

Have completely reset the Airport Extreme base station too. No joy.
Airport Utility sometimes cannot find the AE base station, even when attached and with an IP address. Selecting rescan

Same for me,
suggested a hardware defect. Service provider replaced Station, yesterday installed the network again. Applied firmware 7.3.1 and today connection with ISP was lost again. restarted Extreme and installed firmware 7.2.1. Has to be something with hard- or software on the station, all computers were shut down during the night. Will report later if 7.2.1 works better.

I've read a lot of messages and had my new network (1 month old equipment-Airport extreme base station and airport Express "n' with 7.3.1 & 7.3.2) show 5 bars on my computers and still not be able to connect to the internet at times. I've had the computers ask for passwords and still not work. I could sometimes get a connection to the internet and lose it in one minute with 5 bars showing.

I had an older system that had two older non "N" Airport Expresses (set up in the exact same places I have the new system installed at) that did not have these problems and then lightning hit and I lost everything , so I upgraded to the latest.

Two days ago I changed my network settings on the new equipment (after days of resetting and trying different things before hand) and have had no drops yet. I am now using channel 1 only (not automatic) and "g or bg" only at 2.4mhz. Channel 5 and up still caused loss of connection. I have lost all of the dead spots that I had with other settings. The ex-dead spots are bit slower than other spots. I now have as reliable a system as I had before (knock on wood). Firmware is version 7.3.1. I have not tried 7.3.2 with these settings. The base station is set up to allow extending it and I use the Express to extend it. The base station is in the basement and the express is on the second floor, directly above the base station and is connected to an older I-Mac that does not have a wireless card. During the period that I was having trouble staying connected to the internet with the two portable Macs, I do not remember having a problem with the connection from the I-Mac that used ethernet to Airport Expressed, which connected to the base station wirelessly?
