Question: How to reinstall iPhoto

my iPhoto won't open. and I've done research and called experts...and I will be buying the apple extended warranty plan. but before I do so, I want to reinstall iPhoto. how do I go about this? I've made up my mind...that it needs to be reinstalled. I have all my pictures backed up and ready.

thanks!

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums

Do not delete the iPhoto library in your pictures folder

trash the iPhoto application (in your applications folder), the iPhoto preferences ("your username" ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iphoto.plist) and all receipts with iPhoto in them ("your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts)

Install from your iLife 08 disk or the systems restore disks that came with your computer (install bundled software option or click here for MacWorld's instructions.

I did delete that file...I wonder why I needed to delete it

iPhoto application because that is what you are reinstalling

the iPhoto preferences because you want to positive that you have fresh ones

the receipts because the installer looks there to see what is installed
