Question About iTunes Font

O.K., I have a rather "different" question - does anybody know how to change the font iTunes uses? I have been a big fan of the Comic Sans MS font that has been a part of every MS Windows operating system since at least Windows 95, and I always change every setting in Windows that can be changed so that it uses the Comic Sans MS font. I have even gone as far as going into the Windows registry and actually editing probably 75% of the fonts in there (by changing the value from whatever they are originally to comic.ttf or comicbd.ttf, whichever is appropriate), so that EVERY font that is displayed on my PC is the Comic Sans MS font - no matter what program I am using. For example, I use MS Outlook for my e-mail, and every single font that is displayed on my screen when Outlook is open is Comic Sans MS, even though many of the characters are supposed to be displayed in the Tahoma font. I have been doing this for at least two years, with almost no problems at all.

However, iTunes is the ONLY program on my PC that does NOT display the Comic Sans MS font - it uses some boring, ugly font that appears to be, maybe, Arial or MS Sans Serif - does anyone know why it does not display the same font that EVERY other program/application on my PC uses (Comic Sans MS)?

Does anyone know how I can get it to use the Comic Sans MS font?

Thank you, in advance, for any help that anyone might be able to provide my with this "problem"!

iTunes uses Quicktime resources to specify fonts. Most of the fonts are "Lucida Grande" and Tahoma. iTunes also uses Arial, Tahoma, and Trebuchet MS.

While I have been able to change the font size (see http://home.comcast.net/~teridon73/ituneshacks/index.html), I have not been able to change the actual font used. If you download the Quicktime SDK (requires an ADC account, available here: http://developer.apple.com/products/), you can at least dump the iTunes resources (iTunesLocalized.qtr) to a text file and examine it.

I change the font by editing the binary file iTunesLocalized.qtr. I tried the same technique for the font, but it apparently is more complex than simply changing a few bytes, and I didn't spend enough time doing it to figure out how to do it correctly. I think you may need to compile your own quicktime resources file -- but I fear that you need access to the iTunes source code to do it use this method!

In summary, I guess if you want to change the font, the easiest way is to ask Apple to add this feature. ( http://www.apple.com/feedback)

Robert, following the guidelines in your other post I was able to change the fonts in iTunes by replacing the name of the actual font (for example Tahoma) for another font with the same number of characters.

Because I wanted to use Myriad Pro Light, what I did was change the name of the font with a font editor (FontCreator) to Myriad (tahoma and myriad have the same number of characters), and then replaced the hexadecimal characters of the original font to match the new name.
