Hi. I managed to knock a glass of orange juice over my iPhone the other night and now I can hardly hear calls. I didn't realise until morning so it had dried in before I could do anything. Everything else is working fine. I'm wondering if there is dried orange juice blocking the fine mesh that covers the ear speaker. Should I clean it with a damp cotton bud? Should I use water or alcohol? Any help greatly appreciated. Max
Couldn't wait. Dabbed earpiece hole with wet ear bud and immediately swabbed it again with a dry one. Repeated this 3 times. Sound is instantly better. Can't guarantee this won't kill your iPod but it fixed mine perfectly.
If you do any wet cleaning, make sure to hold the phone upside down so gravity prevents fluid form seeping in. A hair dryer will also help while it is inverted.
I'd remove the sim before anything else, so it's not damaged.
hi again. The sound is fixed but now the on/off button is working only intermitently. I was thinking of swabbing ethanol around the button and into the hole around the button. Is this a terrible idea? My phone is under warranty but I hear apple doesn't cover water damage.
