I love the capabilities iChat provides over a local network - within my office we use it all the time to ask quick questions without needing to walk to the next room, or to send files etc.

Is there any equivalent software for Windows that will allow me to have the same kind of interaction at home between my MBP and my Vista box? I've already tried Miranda Local and found it to be pretty buggy and limited - I have to initiate the chat on the Mac, and it doesn't support file transfers, video chat etc. Does anyone know any alternatives?

Macbook Pro 15in Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz, Mac OS X (10.5.2), I also have a self-built machine running Vista.

You can use gaim, Miranda IM, or Trillian Pro on the PC to send messages through a Bonjour network.
