Can't Burn DVD - keep getting "Error during rendering/encoding"...Help!

I have a new IMac computer with Leopard and I'm having problems burning DVDs. I created a project using IDVD and have audio and pictures (imported individually from Iphoto) that I created into slideshows. I'm try to burn my final copy and continue to receive the "Error during rendering/encoding" message. I looked at earlier threads and saw some people had success when saving it first to a disk image however when I attempted to do that I received the same error. I know I have plenty of memory space since this project is very small. Please let me know if you have any ideas!!
Thanks!

Just a thought - have you checked the Quicktime folder (within the LIBRARY folder) to see if you have anything in there that might be causing issues with the encoding process? I have eyeTV installed and it's installation added an eyeTV mpeg file and a divx file in there. I moved these elsewhere and my encoding errors (and most multiplexing) problems went away.

It's worth looking into. I created a subfolder within the QUICKTIME folder called Disabled and just drug the questionable files into it.

Good luck!!!

Hi Len,

Thanks so much for your reply...

Yes, all the photos and video clips were taken from the same camera..Panasonic DMC-FZ18 Lumix camera. I have tried to create a disc image and got the same error message. I've looked at the audio tracks and they are not all MP3 format some are M4a...so i'm going to try and delete these and add MP3 format audio tracks... maybe this will do the trick!!

I appreciate your help, will let you know if this works!

Hi,

I have a new mac with Leopard since a week, and I had the same problem ("error during rendering / encoding..."). This happened when burning to a disk image.

I tried a lot of things :
* very small project
* create a new user
* put pictures in a folder, and not drag them from iphoto
* change the theme

I still had the same problem.

The last thing I tried was to put all the files used by idvd on the hard disk (instead of of an external firewire disk).

It worked ! (with the small size project).
I'm trying to burn the large project again...

I will tell you if it succeeds...

Best regards,

Nicolas

Hey Guys, I had the same problem, and I tried every recommendation. So, I gave in and called the smart people at apple. 🙂, He made me delete some files.Here they are:
P.S. Get ride can mean move to desktop or trash (don't trash until you know it worked)

Go to finder
*Serve-Library-Quicktime-(then get ride of anything But ApplIntermediantCodec.component, and AppleMPEG2Codec.component)

*Home-Library-caches-com.apple.idvd- (get ride of ride of it all)

*Home-Preference-(get ride of com.apple.IDVD.plist)

I hope this works.

Ben
