How do I create my own business card template?

I want to make business card using my own layout not the ones provided. Do they have a blank template for 2 x 3.5 inches cards that would allow me to type necessary information? What is the best paper to use? do these templates work with avery cards?

Hello and Welcome to the Apple Forum!

Here is a way to get around that...

1. Go to the template chooser > Choose "Blank"

2. Open Inspector > Select the first tab in the Inspector > Click on "Page Set Up"

3. Select the "Paper Size" drop-down arrow > Select "Manage Custom" or "Custom"

4. Press the "+" button > Insert desired size (2 x 3.5) in the "Width" and "Height" boxes > Click "okay"

5. Select the custom size you just created in the "Paper Size" drop-down arrow > Click "Okay"

Pages will automatically resize the page to your desired size.

As for your other questions, I'm not an expert but I would say that business card paper would be your best choice (medium - Heavy Card Stock).

I'm not sure about the Avery Cards being compatible.

I hope this Helps 🙂

+"Pages doesn't have a database function, and doesn't automatically populate the remaining 9 cards with whatever you place in the first card. You have to copy and paste."+

Actually it does.

If you examine the Business Card template supplied, which is a 10 up, the text is linked to whatever you have as your personal details in the Address Book. Address Book got this from you when you set up your user details.

As for making it fit an Avery Business card sheet, get out your ruler and measure off whatever the divides are on your Avery sheet. Reconstruct the Pages template to match this.

Make your changes, add graphics & change fonts and colors on one, then copy and repeat the whole design mathematically by whatever the layout of your 10 cards are.

Just check how your printer is handling the paper by running through a blank test sheet. Put a mark at the top of the paper and note its orientation as you put it in the printer.

It is better to put it in any direct, straight through, feed (usually the envelope feed) as this will hold its position better and prevent excessive curling.

btw You may want to look at Swift Publisher or Business Card Creator [www.belightsoft.com> which whilst the templates are not as attractive as Pages (you could always copy them) it has better tools for multiple layouts.

If you are not confident in your own design abilities try:

Chronos Software's SOHO Business Cards [http://download.chronosnet.com/AppDownload/BC/SOHOBusinessCards251.dmg]

This is very stylish and does what you seem to want for US$39.99 and there is a huge ClipArt collection that goes with it for another $29.99.

It all looks very tasteful and has a Cocoa user interface very much like Pages.

I just made some business cards as well, and was wondering if Avery Card stock would work. I just printed out the final card template on regular paper and down at the bottom of the page in fine print is Avery 5371. So I then went to avery's website to double check and sure enough, it is 10 2 x 3.5 cards. I went and bought some, and it works. So whenever you figure out how to make your own template, Avery 5371 Business Cards is equivalent to whatever the Pages template is. Hope this helps.
