How do you measure size?

I just purchased a MacBook Pro. We ordered a 15" 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, and just received it in the mail.

It looked small to me so I measured the comp. witdth wise and it was only 13". I was telling someone about it tonight and they said to measure a computer you measure diagonally. Is that the correct way to measure a computer?

Also how do you check to make sure it is the 2.4 GHz?

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks!

... I would never had figured that one out on my own.

I take it that you are also a newcomer to the Wonderful World of Mac. May I suggest David Pogue's [Mac OS X Leopard: The Missing Manual|http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596529529> as an excellent way to get to know all the bits and pieces of the Operating System? An alternative could be [Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual, Leopard Edition|http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596514129>, also from David Pogue.

Welcome to the Apple boards:
Size is always measured diagonally. If there were a way to get a larger number, they would use that 🙂
Regarding your speed and other important things, hold down the Option key and click on the little black apple on the top left of your screen. Select System Profiler and, Voila! there you go.
Everything about your computer is listed there - and more ....
