Running tally of DVI display reports

All,

Here is my quick and dirty attempt at making a chart that details which DVI monitors are working with the mini, and which are not:

Hope this helps,
-theMagius

P.S. Please post any corrections or additions to this thread, and I'll update the chart.

I've now got a new widescreen 19" DVI TFT LCD monitor. It's a Samsung 940BW with no dead pixels, it works at full resolution 1440x900 and I no longer have any rippling or noise (tested with same picture which was causing rippling and disturbance on the analog only Viewsonic VA1912W-2). The DVI really does result in a sharper, more stable picture on my computer. Maybe this only applies to my Mac Mini G4 32mb ATI 9200 because, as I read in some forum posts, it may output a sub-standard VGA analog signal? Anyway it's a nice height adjustable monitor, though it has limited viewing angles, so it's only suitable for computer work (viewing straight on).

As mentioned in another post, my Mini G4 1.25GHz works well with an AOC LM2028.

I have now gotten a Mini CD 1.66GHz, and I am happy to report that it works just as well with the AOC, so I just bought one more display like that. Razor sharp. Illumination and color fidelity is most likely not quite up to an Eizo, but price is less than half. A real bargain.

This is on DVI, though, haven't tried VGA, but I suspect it would be awfull (1600x1200=very high video bandwith required)

Many thanks for your efforts. I'm sorry to tell you
that my Acer F20 is among the LCD Displays (DVI) that
are not agreeing with my Mac Mini (1.42).
Unfortunate, as this is the Ferarri display that I've
looked forward to having for some time. My local
apple rep is attempting to help me with a solution to
the static. Thanks again.

I know this message was some time ago, but I recently purchased a beautiful F20 as well and am dissapointed that it doesn't work via DVI with my Mini and looks terrible with VGA (blown out - over saturated). It looked great when I hooked it up to my G5 at the office or my 1.33 12" PB.

I'm wondering if there was ever any resolution regarding the F20?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I had somewhat of a DVI problem with a Samsung SyncMaster 204B. While trying to do a DVI connection to my Mini, the monitor would blank out and come back on at random intervals. It almost looked like it was trying to auto-sense an analog or digital connection.

I ended up running it with a VGA connection, still at native resolution, but no longer have the blanking out problem.

I see Sharp 46LC-46D62U is not listed. Not a good sign... That is the one I am hooking up on the mini mac. Not without any problems though, still trying to figure out the ideal 1080p display versus the only available 1080i by default on mini mac... But it works. Am about to test the SwitchResX software download to get it set to 1080p.

Thanks for the list,
😀

What a great idea.
Have purchased (and now returning) Samsung Syncmaster 214T
DVI not functioning at native resolution (1600x1200)
Thanks.

It seems that this post is not registered in the list.

It's a pity because if it had been in January, PERHAPS, I wouldn't have purchased my Samsung Synmaster 214T in February.

But I am glad because it's working well with VGA.

Now, I intend to buy a Mac Mini Intel and I hope that will work with DVI.

I do have the Intel mac mini.

Could you start a chart for the Intel mac mini? I
think that a great many people would use it.

Sorry, but I haven't the time to maintain the G4-based Minis site I have now.

Trying to keep track of all the Intel-based Minis would just be an impossible effort.

You can easily sign up for a Freewebs account like I did, and start your own, though!

Love the Mac...I just have too many kids to afford it right now!
