Time Machine Over VPN --- Works!
So I've spent a little time making all this work, but basically here is my setup.
I have a SonicWall TZ 190 at the office and a NetGear FVS336G at home. I setup a site to site VPN between them. Then once I did that I could see all the computers on my home network. From there I could see the Airport Base Station that has the drive for backups on it. Next I went to my MacBook Pro and called up Finder Go -- Connect to server, put in the IP of the base station (its connected to your LAN right?) put in your credentials and time machine will kick off a backup.
Good Luck -- If I can make it work so can you.
