Quartz visualizations in Motion 3

Do you mean using Quartz Composer .qtz files inside Motion 3?

If so you will need one of two products

i don't know about sending audio behaviour data from motion to Quartz Composer, but you could use the audio spectrum macro in QC to do the same job, and send audio from Motion via Soundflower, or just take direct audio data from another source...

This is quite easy to do.

Publish your Quartz composition say in FxFactory with a parameter that will control the animation.

In Motion assign an audio behavior to that parameter.

I could probably look it up in the—gasp—manual but how does one "publish quartz compositions?" he asked innocently.

FxFactory takes a Quartz Composition and bundles or wraps it into an FxPlug that FCP, FCE & Motion understand.

So lets take something simple like a colour that would change in QC when a value from 0 to 1 was applied to it. You can 'publish' this variable in QC and when FxFactory wraps the composition, this variable will be made into a parameter in the plugin that can be adjusted from within the host application i.e. Motion.

Then apply an audio behavior to this parameter and bingo, the colour will animate.
