WMA to MP3 - Switch vs. EasyWMA

I am a recent convert to Mac OS X from Windows.

I have a bunch of WMA files I need to convert in order to use ITunes on the Mac.

Now, I know I can use the Windows version of ITunes to do the conversion and then transfer the converted files to the Mac.

Or, I can use a 3rd party software package to do the conversion right on the Mac itself. I have heard that Switch and EasyWMA are good packages.

Switch is free, EasyWMA is $10. Now, I have no problem paying for software (I paid $10 for O2M for Outlook migration). But what does EasyWMA give you that Switch does not?

Also, I have about 3,000 songs to convert. What method will do the fastest conversion? The Windows ITunes, Switch, EasyWMA or other?

Thanks.

I have not used EasyWMA, but have used Switch and it works fine, although it does not always get the tags correct.

Every conversion program I have used (including iTunes for Windows) does the conversions serially, i.e. finishes one before starting the next, so doing 3000 may take a while.

Unless you plan to do this regularly, why not grab the free one and do your conversions and be done with it. By the way, I think Switch is only free for 30 days.

Also, make sure that your WMAs are not protected. If they were purchased from an online WMA store, or were ripped from CD by Windows Media Player with protection enabled, they may well be protected and will not convert.

I am having the same problem as the original poster. I am using EasyWMA, but after converting 3/4s of my library (about 6,000 songs) i find that it keeps giving me the red 'error' sign when i try to convert. These files are not protected in any way, and are exactly the same as the other files i have converted, so i dont understand why it stopped working?
This also happened with Switch, it all of a sudden just stopped converting and gave me error signals.

Any ideas?
