Contacting this Music Software Manufacturer (that happens to be Apple)?

I'm thinking of buying Logic 8 Studio, and I have some "pre-sales questions".

It occurs to me that with any other music software company, I'd be sending a quick email to their "sales@company.com" email -- and getting prompt, courteous, and official answers!

And instead here I am spending a lot of time trying to get vague and unofficial answers on Google and these discussion boards.

So is there any way to contact the Logic development department at Apple by email or submission form, with pre-sales product questions? And what about for registered users -- is there actually such a thing as direct software tech support from Apple??

Not with Apple. Steve Jobs "invented" company silence as a fashionable trend. Hopefully you are enjoying this.

This is probably the only way you'll get any answers.

Nope. There is an EXPENSIVE option to get "official" support. Those who have used it, have mixed results. There is no dedicated Logic "support" team. You call in to their support center, and cross your fingers. You might get a Logic guy, you might not.

This is what dealers are for. Yes, you can buy Logic direct from Apple but you can hardly consider them a pro audio dealer, in the usual sense.

Its a sad reflection of our commercial world that the traditional, knowledgeable dealer is being killed off by the likes of box-shifters and manufacturer-direct selling but there are still some good dealers out there.

The truth is though, pretty much all the info available is on the web in some form or another. Either spend time looking yourself or line the pockets of someone who's already done the job (ie a specialist dealer).

You can certainly forget about having any sort of personal communication channel with Apple - or its Logic dev. dept. Its just too big a company to provide that.

Pay for tech support and you'll get phone access to script bunnies. Thats not to say the bunnies wont provide the right answers though.

Why not post your "pre-sales questions" here?
