repair unreadable m4a file from audio recorder?

Hi there

I was using Audio Recorder to record a conversation and it froze as it saved the file. The file is there (as "untitled recording.m4a") but I haven't been able to listen to or convert it. Says "this file is not a movie file" when I try to open it.

I've tried opening it in VLC, Miro, Quicktime, iTunes, Garageband and it doesn't read in any of those either.

It will open in Audacity but only as a tiny burst of static -- the file is 6.5 MB so I know there's more in there than that.

Does anyone know another application I can try to repair/read it?

Help.

ExperienceDewey,
Open your file in "Edit View" and click on open audio from video file (in Adobe Audition). If you don't have access to Audition, burn your file to a CD, then, rip it.

Dear Dewey, Nathan,

I have exactly the same problem. 22,5 Mb of file that I cannot open. From the fact that there's no further discussion, I make that you've solved the problem. Could you let me in on how? I don't have AdobeAudition to help me out...

Yep.. same problem exactly.. Think audio recorder died while it was saving the file and hence.. broke it. Any suggestions that either don't involve adobe or use something easily acquirable? (and preferably free?)
