Fast user switching via Screen sharing

I came across a strange behavior. When I connect to a remote machine via screen sharing and try to change into a different account +(which is already logged in)+ with fast-user-switching the screen turns black for a moment and the new user desktop shows up. If I try the same by starting a new user session with fast-user-switching I can see the password request for that specific account but when I hit ENTER the screen stays black, nothing happens at all. Reconnecting via screen sharing doesn't help nor attaching a flat screen to the remote machine. All I can do is reboot via ssh. Is there a solution? Tried google but it didn't came up with any useful results.

For what it's worth, I have a G4 Mac mini and have had the same problem. I've tried every combination I can think of, including using Vine server and even sticking a 100 ohm resistor in the video port (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6231896) to no avail. Anytime that I try to start up a second user desktop, I need to have a monitor plugged in.

Yet another post of 'same problem'.

Doing a full logout brings me to the login screen as normal, and I can login to the other account from there.

But still an annoyance and unless there's something very subtle I'm missing it's a bug not a security issue.

Note: the mini in question is running 10.5.2 (I'm 'screen sharing' in to do the updates), and the accessing MBP is running 10.5.5.
