Macbook Pro only boots in to blue screen

Macbook Pro only boots in to blue screen

I have a 15" Silver/Titanium Macbook Pro. When I boot up all I get is the blue screen. Nothing else. I have tried booting from a CD and in firewire mode. All I get is the blue screen at the start. I get the bootup sound but nothing else. I have tried zapping the pram and removing the battery. Same result. Any ideas?

Try starting up in safe mode by pressing and holding the key while starting up, and continue holding the key until the login screen appears. If this works, the words "safe mode" should show up in red and you should be able to log-in.

So you can't boot the Leopard DVD or the Restore disk?

If you can boot the Leopard install, you might want to do an archive/install. or use the disk utility from the leopard disk to repair permissions.

No I can't. It will not boot from the install DVD or Techtools.
