Are there generic Mac drivers for a USB cam?

I just bought a cheap USB webcam, but it only comes with Windows drivers.

Thanks for the quick response. This is a no-name cheap camera, bought from the Eduscho chain (a bit like Starbucks cofee shopts in the US), hence I can't find it on the list which you suggested.

But I did try out the iUSBCam and macam driver approach, but to no avail: the camera is just not recognized (only Audio Only and Screen Shot(?) are available options).

(I had to de-install both programs, since my iSight Camera was not recognized anymore. The new camera is intended for my mother in law, whom I support on her MacMini).

Would you know, is the Macam driver the only generic one?

thanks and cheers, Veit

Ralph, I am not sure what your first question means: whether Eduscho lists it as an on-line item. Perhaps: webcam? Yes, its meant to be a webcam.

Here is what I get with the Hardware profiler: yes, it sees it as a USB camera:

USB camera:

Version: 1.01
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Product ID: 0x613b
Vendor ID: 0x0c45

There seems to be a web site here http://www.eduscho.at/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/at/-/EUR/TdAtBrowseCat alog-Start?CategoryName=phase_1&Entry=nlpopup
I am not sure, as it seems to be in German, to follow any links to other items that are not groceries or Coffee.

The same with this link http://www.germandeli.com/eduschocoffee.html

I was hoping it would list a name like this bit does

Hub in Apple Pro Keyboard:

Version: 1.22
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Mitsumi Electric
Product ID: 0x1002
Vendor ID: 0x05ac (Apple Computer, Inc.)

Yours does not seem to list the name which means we can not use that method for finding out what make it actually is.

There was a post in this thread from EZ Jim about using a macam driver.
These I understand are more camera Specific than other drivers which is why we needed a name.

The one from IOXperts may be of more help
