.Mac with GoDaddy Domain

I am trying to set up my personal domain and I've read a lot of forums now that are saying to change the CNAME at GoDaddy to web.mac.com which i did and i left the alias at WWW. I waited the 48 hours but every time I typed in my domain name it just took me to a page saying "this domain is parked free of GoDaddy" instead of going to my site.

I do not want to forward my site to .mac because I want it to show my URL as www.mydomain.com instead of the web.mac.com/username and all that.

I already registered my personal domain with .mac so that is not the problem. I also read a couple forums that say to put the alias as www.mydomain.com but I don't know what to do. Any ideas to where it went wrong.

The postings that you have read are in fact correct. If you are using the CNAME and have filled this in on .Mac, then your settings do need to point to web.mac.com. Perhaps you need to enter www lower case rather than WWW. The only way it is going to re-direct to your domain is by forwarding it to web.mac.com.

If this still doesn't work, then you need to contact support at GoDaddy for help. Think this is a GoDaddy issue and has nothing to do with either iWeb or .Mac.

I am having problems with this as well, I do want to host my site on my .mac, but I can also just mask my .mac url that is given when you publish a site form iWeb. Is all I have to, change CNAME to web.mac.com, then use the domain I purchased since I will be masking it anyway?

If you will be using url forwarding with masking, you do not do anything with CNAME or your .Mac account settings. These are mutually exclusive ways of doing things.

All you have to do is what it tells you to do, which is change the CNAME to web.mac.com. I before had my domain name forwarded to my .mac site, but that would only send it to the site but not change the name in the URL box. I just changed it though, deleting the forwarding option on godaddy and only changing the CNAME. It seems to be working fine after about an hour of godaddy updating your info.
