mini as a tv-recorder?

Is it possible to use a mac mini as a tv-recorder? I have a beovision avant tv (USA) and would like to use the mini to record programs directly from the tv. There is a data port on the tv and am wondering if that would be used in this setup. Is there any software that would be needed .....Setup is cable without a cable box, directly to the tv.

thanks for the response. I know about eye tv but how would that hook up to the tv? The eye tv doesn't let you watch one program and record another...if I hooked the mini up to the tv I thought that I could watch a separate program while another was recording.... I can have two different programs on the tv at one time........that's the only time I'd want to record something and I have both a mini and the beovision and it might not cost more $$$ to do this. I just don't like the screen within a screen situation for a worthwhile program that demands serious attention and not just "glancing" viewing.

Hi GRS ....saw your posts on Mac Support. I have a 32" Beovision Avant and bought a Mac Mini today to connect up and use as a media server. I also bought the Apple s-Video adaptor and an s-Video lead. When I fire up the Mac Mini, I see the grey start screen on the Avant then when I should get the log on screen I just fuzzy vertical black and white lines. Any tips as to how you got yours to work?
