I would like to know if there is any way or SW application to able a PPPoE connection over my iPhone and/or MaBook Air. In fact my ADSL connection (at usage fee) needs a PPPoE authentication (username and password) in order to start an internet session. I have already tried to set-up a "always-on" connecton (that by the way would be very expensive, as I pay a usage fee) directly into the router, but apparently it is locked by the provider. Thanks for your help.
MacBook Air and iPhone,
Mac OS X (10.5.2),
Internet Connection
The iPhone does not support PPPoE. Generally if you want to share your PPPoE connection, you'll need a router to establish the connection and share it.
These Apple Airport basestations will share a PPPoE connection to multiple devices.

Jason, thanks a lot. I am now using a Time Capsule 1TB as wireless router for my home IP network. It is connected to a DSL router needing a PPPoE authentication in order to open an IP session. However, while it perfectly works with my MacBookAir, it does not work with a PC using Windows Vista. In particular this PC can connect to the Time Capsule and can use a shared printer, but it is apparently unable to complete successfully the PPPoE authentication and connect to the Internet. Do you have any suggestion about that?
You may want to run the Network setup wizard again on the PC, the PC should not be using PPPoE in this case. The PC and the other devices on the network should connect using DHCP.
The Time Capsule connects with PPPoE and shares the public IP address.
There might be a small possibility that your ISP only allows 1 computer on the connection at any given time or even 2 for that matter.
Meaning 1. Router counts as 1 possible client and 2. Your Macbook Air counts as 1 possible client. Thus you may of reached your Limit of 2 Devices on the network at any given time.
But assuming this is not the issue. There is a couple things that can prevent an iPhone or Windows PC from connection to the Wireless Network.
One of the main things is WiFi Security. Please ensure your using WPA/WPA2 Personal 8 character or longer password if possible
Make sure your not using Mac Address Filtering. If you are you will need to add the WiFi address of each device in the house to the router
Make sure your set for DHCP IP address handling if at all possible.
Contact your ISP find out if other people have an issue with creating a Home Network with them. And if there is any Limitations besides the Pre Set amount of Bandwidth your charged for.
Small possibility that the Time Capsule may not be compatible with your particular ISP. Thus it can not distribute information properly.
