In Mac OS X 10.5 how do I enable the On Screen Keyboard?

Hey,

I am a french college student in the USA. I bought my MAC (which I love) in the US. But when I write emails to my parents, I have to use accents. I know how to change the language of the key board. However, I do not know where the keys are on the keyboard (since the keyboard is American), and for some rare use of keys, I have to keep searching.
Is there a way to show the keyboard on the screen to show me where each key is?

go to system preferences->international->input menu and check the box "keyboard viewer". Also, check the box at the bottom to show the input menu in the menu bar. Now, the keyboard viewer will be accessible from the input menu in the menu bar.

This is to change the language. But what I am looking for is a way to see the keyboard on my screen?

this will do just that. It's the same menu but different menu items.

After you do the above, you should see "show keyboard viewer" item in the international menu in the menu bar. click on that and you'll get the keyboard for the currently chosen language on your screen.

you need to check the box next to "keyboard viewer" in system preferences->international->input menu. On my system it's the third box from the top.

I'm at a loss to explain that. Do you have the boxes for "Chracter palette" and
"Japanese kana palette"?
those are the three at the top on my system. do a search for "Keyboard Viewer" once you are in system preferences. It ought to find that box. It certainly does for me.

perhaps are you not looking in the right place? I'm really confused. as i said, just do a search for "Keyboard Viewer" from the main system preferences window.
