Lock Folder Name

Is there a way to lock a folder's name (preventing someone from changing the name) but still allow others to "Read and Write" to the folder?

Basically, locking a folder's name is done by changing the permissions on the folder enclosing that one, which doesn't affect anyone's ability to add or remove items in the folder itself. There doesn't appear to be any other way.

If you have folder A, which contains folder B, and you make folder A read-only to someone, that person can see the contents of A but not make any changes, including renaming B. Keeping folder B as read/write allows changes to be made to the contents of B.

I understand what you are saying but does not seem to be working. The folder I want to prevent a name change has ~ 10,000 folders and multiple 1000's sub-folders enclosed (client database). These enclosed folders and subfolders need to be modified including the name of these folders by others on the network. The main folder, if I do what you suggest, still allows me to change the name of the main folder when I make it "read only" but then locks out the enclosed folders from be modified (including name changes here) despite having them "Read and Write". I must be missing something very obvious 😟 or maybe it can't be done.

Find the folder or disk which encloses the main folder and change the permissions on that. Do not change permissions on the main folder itself or anything inside it.
