How to downgrade my firmware version after a "succesful" update?

Dear Macusers,

Is there any way to downgrade my firmware version from 1.5.1 to a lower version? Even if my firmware update has been applied succesfully? I cannot use just the firmware restore CD because that is for an interupted or failed update.

Many thanks for your reply. Yesterday I posted a topic about this problem with some more details. I hope this may help.

Who or what is iFactory? I doubt your issues are related to the firmware update, since as you say there was a week of normal operation after that. Also, I doubt the credentials of someone advising you to roll back a successful firmware update with the restoration CD (but I do know that at the Apple Store Genius Bar, some 'geniuses' aren't).

Have you tried running the Apple Hardware Test (boot from install DVD 1 with the d key pressed, from the external keyboard if necessary).

I want you to know that the problem has been located. Today after a long search on the internet I found this topic:

I was a little bit skeptical about the solution but it sounded quite obvious too so I tried it by myself. The first time nothing happened, so I changed the paper a bit and then it suddenly worked. This was really a big surprise and didn't know what to think about it.

There is no doubt that this is unacceptable, so I'll go to the Machouse (sort of Genius Bar) tomorrow and show them this weird stuff. ****, my schoolmates will laugh at me for having a Macbook Pro with such an isseu.

As you said before, I tried the Apple extended Hardware Test, but it took ages, so I decided to quit. Nothing was found after all.

About your question: iFactory is just the name of an Apple Store here in Holland.
