Pictures associated with Contacts

I've noticed that I need to load images into the "Photo Library" in order to associate a contact with a picture. I have also noticed that even when the picture no longer exists in the "Photo Library", it seems to still exist with the contact in the phone book. This is good. Can I safely, IMMEDIATELY remove images from my Photo Library after I associate them with a contact - without fear of it being deleted from the contact itself?

I assume these "already associated" images are stored somewhere hidden?

If you sync your iPhone contacts with Outlook on your computer, Outlook should include an option to add a photo to the information for a contact - which will be transferred to the iPhone. If Outlook 2003 doesn't this option, Outlook 2007 should. If a photo is added to a contact on your iPhone, this should be transferred to Outlook during the sync process.

I added pics to my contacts directly on my iPhone so now when I go into Outlook the picture is there for the contact due to syncing. If you right click on the picture you have the option to change, remove, or copy the picture. For the contacts on my pc that I do not have a picture for all I have to do is left click on the box designated for a picture and my "My Pictures" folder is opened to locate and add a picture.
