iPhone Won't Sleep with Maps On

Hi,

I have verified this several times with my iPhone. I have mine set to sleep with 1 minute of inactivity. However, when I'm driving, if I do a map directions and set the iPhone down, it will not go to sleep at all. In fact, tonight, I had gotten directions to a movie, put the phone in my pocket when I arrived and my iPhone stayed on for 2 hours. during the show.

If I turn maps off, it goes to sleep like normal, 1 minute later.

Anybody else?

Yeah, baby! That solved it.

Go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/Reset/Reset All Settings

You'll have to add your "Favorites" back into lists. And you'll have to put passwords into your WiFi connections.

But it fixed several little weird things I had going on, including the Maps Sleep problem.

Thanks, everybody!

Actually this seems fairly beneficial... if you have a map up and you're driving around, etc, would be rather inconvenient to have to keep unlocking the phone to view your directions.

Just remember to hit the home screen when you're done. 😉

I fully agree! At first I thought it was a new feature of the last update, I thought Maps stayed on if the iPhone was connected to external power. A needed feature, and yes I did post it to the Apple recommendation site, would be to have a preferences panel like iBooks have. If charging then sleep could be delayed or turned off in certain applications. Perhaps if it's not in 2.0 someone with the SDK will do it.
