Quicktime video codec comparison chart / list somewhere ?

Does anyone know if there is any list / chart of all contained video codecs in quicktime ? I´d really like to know more about which codec (animation, h264, prores etc.) does what, what its best for, how it is compatible with other systems (e.g. Windows), which compression it uses (lossless vs. lossy), and where I can find more information about it. So far I´ve looked on the web, wikipedia etc. but did not find much information on the different codecs. I´m sure there must be a list somewhere on the net.
