Firefox & Safari refuse to open pages

Just about every day, or twice some days, firefox and safari do not let me open web pages.

Firefox gives me a popup message that says: You have chosen to open which is a binary file from google.com Would you like to save this file?

Safari says: redirect server:rapidlogic/1.1MIME-version:1.0 Connection:close Content-Type: text/ html location: http://launchmodem/redirectBS.htm

I use Bell South as my ISP

I have to reset safari, clear the firefox cache, quit both programs, reset my modem, and restart my computer to get the pages to open again. Sometimes I need to do it twice before it stops giving me those messages.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Well, that's good news! 🙂

What you did...

DNS is short for Domain Name Services, that's what the computer uses to go out on the internet to particular Servers that hold this info, and when you put apple.com in the URL bar, it goes out to one of those numbers and finds that apple.com is actually the number 17.254.3.183, which is what the computer needs to use to get there. Sort of like you looking up a phone# in a phone book, you find rthe name, it tells you what number to dial! 🙂
