iPhone on Orange ?

Reasons not to buy from ebay:

- they usually cost more
- you don't know the condition of the phone
- they don't have a warranty so if there is a problem, Apple won't help you
- you won't be able to apply feature updates or security updates
- no one here will be able to help you if you have a problem

Unlocking an iPhone requires a hack/modification, which is against Apple's license agreement, eliminates any support from Apple, and voids the warranty.

I don't believe installing a new firmware update that is released will re-lock a hacked/modified/unlocked iPhone, but doing so can make such an iPhone completely unusable.

The following warning message is provided by Apple with firmware updates.

you void any kind of warranty...

something happens to it, physical or programming issues, you will be on your own to get it fixed...

and like you said, you cant get any updates from itunes

The latest word is that the 3G iPhone will be coming out shortly. That will solve your problems.

The apple.com website right now shows no iPhones are available for purchase..."out of stock". I bet they release it tomorrow.
